About Us | Board of Directors

A volunteer board of directors establishes policy for LaGrange County Community Foundation. Every effort is made to have board representation from all geographic areas of the county and from a variety of occupational fields. Board members serve three year terms and may serve three consecutive terms (9 years) before taking at least a one year hiatus from board service.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors are:

  • Know the mission of LCCF and be able to relate it to interested parties.
  • Attend and participate in monthly board meetings. Serve on at least one committee and offer to take on special assignments. Review agenda and other materials prior to board and committee meetings.
  • Act as the foundation’s ambassador to the community.
  • Help establish and carry out long-term goals and objectives of the foundation.
  • Inform others about the foundation, including soliciting donors.
  • Make personal gifts to any fund within the foundation in light of other commitments and in keeping with my position as a member of the board.
  • Cultivate potential board successors and encourage people to serve on foundation committees.
  • Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
  • Be willing to meet with and coordinate with staff on projects.
  • Monitor personnel policies, reviewing annually.
  • Hire and evaluate the executive director including an annual review, disciplining and termination.
