Community foundation seeks nominees for award

LaGrange County Community Foundation (LCCF) is seeking nominees for a “Heart of Gold Award” to honor an ordinary county citizen who has consistently displayed a volunteer spirit which has made a difference in the lives of others.

The LCCF Board of Directors will select the 2010 recipient of the “Heart of Gold Award” from nominations received. The recipient  will be an individual who: identifies a need and fulfills it; recognizes and acts upon opportunities; shares time and energy for the sake of others; overcomes unusual challenges in serving others; renders a service which changes lives; works to create positive change; inspires others to volunteer; and/or performs an exceptional act of kindness.

All nominees will receive a memento in honor of their service. The award recipient will have the opportunity to direct a $1,000 grant to the LaGrange County charity of his or her choice from a list approved and provided by LCCF, and will have his or her name engraved on a plaque on display in the community room in the LCCF building.

Recognizing and encouraging dedicated volunteer service is one aspect of the mission of LCCF which is to inspire and sustain generosity, leadership and service in our community.
