Philanthropy...it's all about LIFE

LaGrange Independent Foundation for Endowments, LIFE, is a philanthropic group of young people, supported by LaGrange County Community Foundation, a generous grant from Dekko Foundation and volunteer mentors from our county's four public and private schools.

LIFE provides an opportunity for young people to gain experience in community service and charitable giving. From grades 8 through 12, these students enagage in a variety of projects and serve as the advisory committee for the LIFE endowed and non-permanent funds held by LaGrange County Community Foundation. LIFE grant and scholarship applications submitted to LCCF are evaluated by the LIFE Youth Pod in order to select recommended recipients.

"Youth Philanthropy Rocks!" and LIFE members keep the beat in LaGrange County.

Dekko Retreat

In November of 2011, several members of the LaGrange County Community Foundation’s LIFE Youth Pod and adult chaperones participated in a major youth philanthropy retreat at Ramsey Farms near rural Mount Ayr, Iowa. The “Phil’s on Phire” Retreat was sponsored by the Dekko Foundation and through a variety of entertaining and educational programs introduced participants to a wide range of exciting community service ideas to better serve local community needs.
