Application Process2006 Scholarship Recipients

1. All scholarship applications are available on the LCCF website. They may be viewed at home, at school or at your local library.

2. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review available scholarships based on descriptions on the title page of each scholarship.  Applicants are also encouraged to attend scholarship application workshops offered at each high school and at the LCCF Community Room.

3. Once the applicant has selected scholarships consistent with his or her educational and financial needs, he or she may download and print the document.

4. Each application form will include sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7. These sections must be completed in full by the student with the assistance of family, school administrators and others as required.

5. To finish the application, the applicant will provide section 5 - generally a written essay unique to that scholarship. In addition, the applicant’s school will provide section 6 - an official academic transcript.  The completed sections 1 through 7 must be stapled together, in numerical order, at the upper left hand corner and submitted to the community foundation by the application deadline.

Selection Process
The scholarship selection committee is made up of community residents from all geographic areas of LaGrange County and from a variety of professions.  An equal number of scholarship selection committee members will read and score each qualified application per scholarship based upon donor and board of director approved criteria. Following these scoring steps, the applicant or applicants with the highest average score or scores will, after final board of director approval, be awarded the scholarship.

Notification
Due to the volume of applications only applicants who have earned a scholarship award will be notified. This notification of award will be made by mail - followed by a press release. However, any applicant who has a question about their application status may call the community foundation at any time during normal business hours.

Each scholarship recipient will be honored by the community foundation at his or her school award ceremony. In addition each recipient and his or her parents or guardians will be invited to a community foundation awards event

Payment of Award
Award payments are made directly to the school in both the name of the school and the recipient after the recipient completes and submits a (provided) scholarship voucher along with official school confirmation of enrollment in an accredited two or four-year college, university or trade school as specified by the original application. To avoid late payment all vouchers and enrollment confimration should be turned in to the community foundation no later than August 15 — earlier is better. A few scholarships are renewable or may be re-applied for in successive years of school. Information on the criteria and processes for those awards are provided on the title pages of the individual scholarship applications.
